Residential Living Mission and Vision
The Mission of the Department of Residential LIving states, "We provide clean, safe, and healthy living environments that enhance and support the educational mission, goals, and creed of Western Carolina University."
The Vision for the department is, "We strive to create living and learning communities where students feel valued as individuals and where diversity and fellowship with others can be celebrated. While maintaining a high level of quality service, we also encourage and provide opportunities for personal growth and development of character, leadership, honesty, respect, and pride."
Life On Campus
WCU offers a variety of on-campus housing options for new and continuing students. Our Residence Life staff including Resident Assistants (RAs), Graduate Community Coordinators (GCCs), Area Coordinators (ACs) and Residential Case Managers (RCMs) provide personalized support for residential students to help them succeed in and out of the classroom at WCU.
New, first-year students are primarily housed in our 5 dedicated first-year buildings - Albright Hall, Benton Hall, Black Rock Hall, Shining Rock Hall or Water Rock Hall. New first-year students in the Brinson Honors College may also live in Balsam Hall or Blue Ridge Hall.
Continuing students, re-enrolling students or transfer students can explore a variety of housing options in 11 mixed-use residence halls.
